Floyd Mayweather VS Conor McGregor – Battle of the Cars
Soon, Floyd Mayweather will take on Conor McGregor in the ring, and we will see which one of these towering figures in their sport will be victorious. After months of trash talking, posturing and training, this Saturday will finally decide the Money fight.
Both these fighters have made millions over their careers so far, and this fight might be one of their biggest paydays yet. Previously, they have spent much of their money on cars, so we thought we’d take a look at each of their garages.
Mayweather came to prominence at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, where he lost in the semi-finals and following that, set his sights on a professional career. Over the past twenty years, he has become one of the most famous boxers in the world and World Champion. In that time, he has purchased an expensive collection.
Mercedes SLS AMG
Mayweather treated himself to a white Mercedes SLS AMG with those splendid gullwing doors. A colossal 6.2-litre V8 engine, developing an immense 563 bhp, powered the old Mercedes SLS. It rushed from 0-60 mph in just 3.8 seconds and smashed a top speed of 197 mph.
Mercedes fitted the SLS with F1-style suspension for adaptability, advanced traction and stability systems ensuring you had an amazing experience driving the SLS. That was combined with the sharp steering and brilliant ride comfort to be well worth its high price tag, although, by Mayweather standard, it was easily affordable.
Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport
Mayweather doesn’t just own one Bugatti Veyron… He owns three. One is a regular Veyron, but he has two Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse. This model houses a 1,000 bhp 16-cylinder, 8.0-litre quad-turbocharged engine under its bonnet. It darts to 60 mph in 2.7 seconds and hits a top speed of 253 mph with the roof up.When you lower that roof, the top speed reduces to a measly 223 mph (slow, you know).
Bugatti focused on making these Veyrons as fast as possible, so the interior is simple but exquisite. No fancy styling, but with everything crafted beautifully from machine-turned alloy, carbon fibre and leather. Just to show off how fast and powerful the Veyron is, Bugatti fitted a huge rev counter to dominate the dashboard.
Ferrari 458 Spider
The drop-top 458 Italia is judged one of the best Ferraris ever made. Ferrari offers a single 4.5-litre V8 engine available, paired with a seven-speed dual clutch transmission. It generates 562 bhp, flies from 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds and hits a top speed of 198 mph.
It is worth saying that the World Boxing Champion is a lover of speed.
The 458 cabin is perfect. The dashboard is driver-focused, ensuring you are in full control at all times and everything is high quality. Ferrari left nothing out of place. It has plenty of leg room and headroom, making it fairly practical for a supercar.
Notorious is the only word to use when describing Conor McGregor. The Irish MMA champion loves his lavish lifestyle, and his net worth is estimated close to $22 million. Here are some of the cars McGregor purchased with that wealth.
Lamborghini Aventador – The Mutant
McGregor loves luxury and status, so it is no surprise he owns not one, but two Lamborghini Aventadors. He owns an ivory Roadster that spits fireballs from the exhaust like a dragon and a lime Aventador nicknamed ‘The Mutant’. These cars match his high-octane style.
Lamborghini never does anything by halves, so Aventador houses a 6.5-litre V12 killer, pumping out 691 bhp. It pounces onto 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 217 mph. It does this while bellowing a glorious soundtrack.
Rolls Royce Ghost
McGregor so far has owned a Rolls Royce, Dawn, Phantom Drophead and a Ghost. His current Ghost cost £280,000 for the custom-made design with Team McGregor liveries on it. We don’t know if McGregor drives it himself or has a driver to do it, but the Ghost is great either way.
Inside the Rolls Royce Ghost, you discover quality beyond anything you will find in another brand. Truly, the build is beyond reproach thanks to the highest quality environment, offering a stunning blend of classic and modern style. It is clear at first sight why McGregor loves his Ghost.
Under the Ghost’s famously long bonnet, sits a 6.6-litre twin-turbocharged V12, surging from 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds, which for a car weighing more than two tonnes is extremely impressive. Despite this though, you don’t buy a Ghost for speed, you buy it for the unashamed display of luxury and wealth.
McGregor joined the list of celebrities, which own a Range Rover and trust us, that list is long. That is unsurprising because the Range Rover offers luxury and amazing off-road ability that is missing is most other SUVs.
Some may describe the Range Rover’s interior to be a masterpiece in interior design, which is strengthened by the improved sound insulation and sumptuous comfort throughout the cabin. There are bundles of space inside for tall adults so that McGregor will be fine.
There are a variety of engines available under the range Rover’s bonnet, the most powerful being the 5.0-litre supercharged V8 generating 510 bhp. It shot from 0-60 mph in 5.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 140 mph.
The Mayweather VS McGregor fight is taking place this Saturday, 26th August at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vagas. The fight is nicknamed the ‘Money Fight’ and hailed as the biggest fight ever. Will you be watching?
