The Pride Of Britain – McLaren 570S For Sale
There is plenty of debate about manufacturing in Britain currently. In particular, there is a nostalgia about a time when British automotive manufacturing supplied jobs up and down the nation. One of the world’s most famous manufacturers is still British owned, based in Woking in Surrey and it builds some of the best cars on the road right now.
The McLaren 570S is one such car and we have one on sale now. This car is nicknamed the “baby McLaren”, but don’t let that fool you. This car is, in the words of McLaren, “the ultimate sports car experience”.
Under the McLaren’s Bonnet
McLaren are big fans of large, powerful engines and the 570S has been treated to a V8. In fact, it has the same 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that is in many of the other McLaren cars, including the P1 GTR model. This engine produces 562 bhp, ensuring you have plenty of power. This allows the 570S to spring from 0-60 mph in a whopping 3.1 seconds and hits a top speed of 204 mph. Not exactly a baby is it with that power and speed at your disposal?
This engine is paired with a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox, which is officially known as the Seamless Shift Gearbox (great name). You can switch this pairing from Normal mode to Sports mode or Track Mode to unleash this car’s true potential as the ultimate sports car experience.
Within the McLaren
Whilst McLaren aimed to make the best handling, fastest baby supercar they can, they have also focused just as much energy on the interior. They designed it to be elegant and uncluttered, which you would want from a car with this price tag. It has incredibly comfy seats made from some of the finest, hand-stitched leather, which hug you in the corners to ensure you are supported at speed. You can adjust both the seats and the steering wheel, in order to get the best driving position for you. And in this car, that is essential.
The dashboard is minimalistic and simple, with a TFT display unit in place of the instrument binnacle. The infotainment system is a portrait orientated touch screen in the middle of the dashboard. We recommend not using it when driving as you may be required to take your eyes off the road. Every material and plastic in the 570S’s interior are high quality and you can tell it is worth the money spent on it.
Driving the McLaren
The McLaren 570S may feel intimidating considering the power held under that bonnet. However, McLaren seems to have understood that possibility and designed the 570S to be as smooth and as easy to drive as humanly possible. This is one of the reasons why they included a dual-clutch gearbox. You can slip it into drive and smoothly pull away without much to worry about.
It is one of the few supercars that can be used for day-to-day activities around town if required. The throttle is great for that and doesn’t spring any surprises on you. It does have some creep to ensure that hill starts and parking are easy to do. You would expect that for the price you pay. At low speeds, the steering can feel heavy. However, this is so when you do drive fast, the steering is poised, accurate and responsive.
The ride is so smooth thanks to its suspension set up. Britain is known for occasionally having bumpy roads, but in the McLaren 570S, you wouldn’t be able to tell the bumps existed. In fact, that is the feeling with everything in this car. You never feel scared in it, unlike other more terrifying supercars. It is an excellent car to drive at speed or for everyday use.
Out of all the prestige cars on sale, the McLaren 570S is one of our favourite cars for obvious reasons.
